FINAL EXAM OF THE YEAR!...

Criterion C:
1.A short writing task of 35-45 words
(mark out of 5)

2.Writing an informal letter of about 100 words.
(mark out of 15)
What should I do to prepare?
1. The first thing you need to do is to redraft your exam answers. Write them out again, improving them.
Pay close attention to mistakes that I have marked. ASK if you are not sure what the problem is.
Look at my written comments if applicable and follow them.
Refer to the mark schemes above to make sure you have got FULL MARKS.


2. Below are two more questions for you to practice with. Preparing these will be excellent preparation for our exam.


a. You are unable to attend an appointment with your doctor. 
Write a short email to Dr Jones in which you:

  •  apologise for having to miss the appointment
  •  explain why you can no longer attend 
  •  propose another day and time to have the appointment.


Write 35 - 45 words



b. This is part of a letter you receive from an English friend:

I love cooking so much and I am thinking about taking some classes. 
What is your favourite food? What is the food like in your country?
 Have you ever had food from a different country? How does it compare to yours?
Write a letter answering your friend´s questions. 

Write about 100 words on your answer sheet.


What can I do whilst exams are being carried out?

Part 2 - Discussion based on a situation with a picture to help you (2-3 minutes)

Part 3 - Describing a photo (3 minutes in total but each student talks about their photo for one minute each)


Remember to:

1. Start with a general description.

2. Use prepositions to describe different parts / people / objects in the photo.

3. Use interesting adjectives and ways to describe specific content in the photo.

4. Give your opinion of what is going on in the photo - what COULD be going on?
